US Senate tax bill stumbles on deficit-focused 'trigger' - Reuters
A Republican tax overhaul stalled on a procedural issue in the U.S. Senate on Thursday after Senate parliamentarian barred Corker’s “trigger” proposal on procedural grounds.
Corker wanted to add an automatic trigger that would increase taxes if the tax cuts in the bill fail to boost the economy and generate revenues to offset the estimated deficit expansion.
It is not clear if the decisive Senate vote on the tax bill will happen today.
