Cyprus vote could be rescheduled for Wednesday

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - According to Cypriot media, the parliamentary vote on the EU bailout plan might be postponed until Wednesday. The decision whether to proceed with the session or not is to be made at 16 GMT at the parliamentary party leaders’ meeting.

Should the vote be postponed, Cyprus president Nicos Anastasiades would meet party leaders tomorrow morning to further discuss the bailout plan, which would then be put to vote in the afternoon.

Media reports suggest the Cypriot government is currently redesigning how losses will be distributed amongst depositors in Cypriot banks, such that small depositors shoulder less of the burden (or perhaps escape entirely). The government is up against the clock though with parliamentary debate due to begin at 16:00 GMT on Tuesday (after several previous postponements).
